Ok, thanks for the numbers.

2 questions. I need to replace my DPFE & EGR,

which part is my DPFE? the 2nd & 3rd numbers both work, and there is a $15 difference.

And as for the EGR numbers, which one?

I have a 2003 Focus ZX3.

Thanks for any info.

For the DPFE, you want this code:

4U7Z-9J460-AA

That is the most up-to-date DPFE on the Ford parts database.

As for EGR numbers, I'm not sure which two you are talking about. If it's the ones I posted, one is the actual valve, and the other is the solenoid that controls it.

Do I need both the valve and the selenoid? And I guess the gasket also?

If you do the valve, you need the gasket. It's like a lead or other malleable metal gasket that somehow works.

The valve seems to be a pain to remove. I bought a valve...but I'm unsure how to get the stupid thing off (I think you need a 29 mm wrench to get it off...but the clearance isn't that good).

The solenoid is very easy to pop on and off. I think they were 7mm bolts...and just pop off the connector and the rubber tubes.

OK, so I went to my ford dealership for a new DPFE and they said the numbers given in this thread did not exist.

OK

So I went to another dealership, and they had the third number in the thread:
4U7Z-9J460-AA

And I bought it, not even thinking that it didn't look like the part I had. They said it was an updated part, which I have read on here.

I have 2 questions.

First, obviously the electrical connectors do not match up, and I know there is supposed to be a piggyback connector, anyone have that part number again? I can't seem to find it.

Second, how does this thing mount? Does it just flap around in the engine bay? I mean the old part bolted nicely to the firewall, this have no way to mount it.

I think it's part of a DPFE repair "kit". I'm not sure, but I got this part # off an old TSB:

2M5Z-9J460-AA - DPFE Sensor Kit

Second, how does this thing mount? Does it just flap around in the engine bay? I mean the old part bolted nicely to the firewall, this have no way to mount it.

The new DPFE just "floats" there, being plugged into the two tubes.

Overall, this is how the whole thing should look like finished:

Image

I think from late 2001 and onwards, the DPFE was just "floating" underneath the air intake tube. My early 2002 model was like that, plus the connector was already there.

One thing you may want to look for is to see if the wire/connector going to the old DPFE already has a connector. I noticed my connector was different than the new DPFE. But I traced that connector back to a junction where it plugged into another connection. That connection actually fit the new DPFE.

I will definetly check that out. In your picture, you show the old DPFE location as almost near the middle. Mine is bolted directly over the EGR regulator.

Ford is so screwed up. If you update a part, shouldn't you make it so the replacement includes EVERYTHING to work out correctly?

Again, I will check the connection again.

I just checked, and no, my harness is hardwired into the factory set. It does not include the updated connector.

Can anyone get a hold of the old part?
